NETWORK
European Network of Storytelling Sites and Towns (ENSST) aims to bring together all those places in Europe that have a strong relationship with storytelling and storytelling.
By connecting all those places from different countries, this network provides them all a perfect basis for them to create bonds and exchanges with each other, thereby also bringing citizens together through their oral heritage.
The final aim of the network ENSST is to strengthen Europe’s oral heritage.
UNESCO states that “intangible material provides communities with a sense of identity and continuity, thus promoting human creativity and social well-being, contributes to the management of the natural and social environment and generates economic income ».

creation of a database
The first step of this project is to establish the state of storytelling in Europe. Which are the institutions and the actors that support storytelling in the European Union ?
This mapping will be rooted by the existing situation, drawing by the network of each of the partners, their research but also by storytelling networks which are already established in Europe. This database will be a tool for all those interested by oral tradition.

TO Build
Following the example of the Mediterranean Cities Network (Euromed), and based on the resources collected, an European Network of Storytelling Cities will be created and institutionalised.
In this perspective, each partner works with a group of two experts.
La Maison du Conte is as well working with the RNCAP and more specifically with Frida Morrone and Julien Labouche. Together, partners and experts will have to define the organisational characteristics, the objectives, the founding principles and the conditions that cities must fulfil in order to join this network.
circulation of artists and the widening of audiences
An artistic residence and a collective creation
This residency took place in 2022, in Guadalajara, during 12 days with 7 European storytelling artists, then in France during 5 days. They will improve the diversity of storytelling and of its practices in Europe.
Clqara Guenoun and Julien Tauber represent France. Together they worked on tales related to the oral tradition of their respective countries. Pépito Matéo is coordinator of this residency, he therefore supervise and accompany the artists throughout the project.
A reading night
The Fondazione per legerre is running a project with reading clubs on the relationship between reading and orality. The aim is to enable readers to transcribe orally their readings and their feelings they experience. This oralization work will be led by a coach.
These workshops end with a Reading Night, during which amateurs and professionals will tell stories.
